Kara graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology (2009), receiving the Most Outstanding Graduate Award. She then received her Master of Physical Therapy in 2011, receiving the NW Tymchyshyn Award for best overall clinical proficiency. Kara has spent her physiotherapy career specializing in complex pediatrics. She has worked in a variety of multi-disciplinary rehab settings in both SK and AB, with children of all ages and abilities.

Kara began her career working in pediatrics at Wascana Rehab in Regina, SK. Shen then moved to Saskatoon and worked at the Alvin Buckwold Child Development Program, working in outpatient rehab and multidisciplinary clinics. Kara then moved to Edmonton, AB to further pursue her passion of pediatrics. She spent 8 years working at the renowned Glenrose Rehab Hospital in many of the pediatric multidisciplinary clinics, outpatient and inpatient settings, and was a member of the wheelchair and seating team. She was also the team lead for the pediatric rheumatology clinic. Kara’s extensive experience at the Glenrose Hospital lead her to further her career and work for a private practice in St. Albert, AB. Here, Kara gained experience working with children in the clinic, home and community/school settings. She also worked as a research assistant at the University of Alberta.

Kara has experience working with neuro diverse children with developmental delays, spasticity/abnormal muscle tone, ASD, Rett syndrome, Down Syndrome, orthopedic disorders, Cerebral Palsy, juvenile arthritis, movement disorders, brain injuries, strokes, muscular dystrophies, genetic/metabolic disorders, spina bifida, heredity spastic paraplegia, prematurity, and more.

Kara has experience in the areas of orthotic management, wheelchair and specialized seating, pediatric equipment including manual/power wheelchairs, standing frames, walkers, adapted bikes, floor sitters, and specialized gait orthosis’. She has a strong interest in the areas of power mobility, gait assessment/treatment, orthotic prescription and design, as well as resistance training in the pediatric population. Her main philosophy of treatment is to help her clients gain as much confidence and independence as possible.

Emily graduated with Distinction from University of Calgary earning a Bachelors in Kinesiology with an Embedded Leadership Certificate. Her education continued at the University of Alberta with a Master’s of Science in Physical Therapy.

Emily is passionate about working with kids of all ages and abilities. During her undergrad in Calgary she volunteered one-on-one with the Children’s Adaptive Physical Activity Program and then worked as a Child Development Specialist with G.R.I.T Calgary Society. She gained more experience during her Physical Therapy placement at PEAK Kids Calgary, where she fostered resilience and empowered patients of all ages to discover their strength and potential. Emily considers herself a lifelong learner, in constant pursuit of knowledge to better herself as a practitioner and person.

She loves being active outside walking, hiking, backcountry camping, riding horses. When Emily isn’t exploring the outdoors she is baking new recipes to share with friends and family. She grew up in Okotoks Alberta and has recently moved to Saskatchewan with her fiance and dog named Goose.

Monique graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 2007 with a degree in Kinesiology. She then completed a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy at the University of Alberta, graduating in 2009.

Since entering the field, Monique has built extensive experience as an Occupational Therapist with the Saskatchewan Health Authority. Much of her career has been dedicated to pediatric care through her work with the Alvin Buckwold Child Development Program. In this role, she has collaborated closely with multidisciplinary teams, assessing and treating children with a wide range of complex needs.

More recently, Monique has taken on the role of Pediatric Therapy Educator within the Saskatchewan Health Authority, where she supports ongoing learning and development within pediatric therapy services.

Monique has experience working with children who have diverse medical conditions, with a focus on fine motor development, sensory processing, and activities of daily living.

Monique lives in Saskatoon with her husband and two children. Her family enjoys being active, spending much of their time at the hockey rink or ball diamond.

Heather earned her Bachelor of Kinesiology with Distinction in 2007 and worked as an exercise therapist for two years before returning to obtain her Master’s in Physical Therapy in 2012.

Since graduating, Heather has worked in a variety of clinic settings. Heather worked for the public sector in Melfort, Saskatchewan, for three years. During that time, she worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings. While in Melfort, Heather focused on her orthopedic skills and received diplomas in Advanced Orthopedic Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy - Level I, Level II Upper Quadrant, and Level II Lower Quadrant.

Heather moved to Saskatoon in 2015 and began working in the public sector, focusing on tertiary-level SGI clients in a multidisciplinary setting. During this time, she developed a deep understanding of chronic pain and completed specialized training in Mobilization of the Nervous System.

Since 2021, Heather has shifted her focus entirely to pediatrics, working full-time at the Alvin Buckwold Child Development Program. She joined developt two years ago, where she continues to support children and families with her expertise and compassionate care.

Outside of work, Heather loves traveling with her husband and their dog, Zoey, always finding new adventures together.
